{Subtle Statement Necklace}

Y'all have no idea how excited I am to be sharing a new post after almost two weeks of being MIA!  At the end of each grading period, my life gets ridiculously busy!  Last week I was buried under a mountain of papers, and this week I had parent-teacher conferences for two afternoons.  But, anyway, I'm here now sharing a new jewelry tutorial.
Last month I participated in a handmade jewelry swap sponsored by Kara from Mine for the Making. I was paired with Lindsay from Artsy Fartsy Mama.  I emailed her to see what styles and colors of jewelry she likes, and she told me that she likes turquoise.  In February, I made {these pendants}, and I have been wanting to make some type of statement necklace using the wrapped hoops ever since, so I gathered my supplies and got to work making a turquoise necklace for Lindsay.
I wrapped several plastic hoops (they can be found in the sewing section of a craft store) with embroidery floss in different shades of blue and turquoise.  I followed the steps I outlined {HERE}.
Once I had a decent number of hoops wrapped, I started playing around with arrangements.  When I found an arrangement I liked, I attached the hoops to each other with different size jump rings.
Then I simply attached two lengths of chain and a clasp to finish my necklace.
Why do I call this a subtle statement necklace?  I think the size of the hoops make a statement, but the fact that there's negative space in the middle of the hoops and there's not an overabundance or gems or anything else makes it a subtle statement.
You could make a necklace like this to match any outfit you have, and you could add as many wrapped hoops as you wanted to create a different look.  Lindsay received her necklace last week, and I think she liked it!  :)  I sent her two other handmade pieces that I'll be sharing the tutorials for in the upcoming weeks.  Thanks for stopping by!
